This is the post when all you technophiles out there grin your smug little grins and chortle at the sad state of affairs my life is in as represented by my music collection.
Last Wednesday I picked up the kids after work to have dinner with them. We had a nice dinner, and afterward we drove around town a little bit, listening to the mp3 player plugged into the aux jack in the car. Here are some techie details: I have a pretty good collection of cds, but some of them are old copies from long ago, some are weird little sample cds. I use windows media player to rip the tracks (as I guess no one does anymore). I have a little sansa mp3 player I got on clearance at Walmart. It doesn't do much in the way of display but it's got 8mb and it ended costing me only $25 so I thought I got a steal. So there are 1400 songs on it, most of which are listed as "Unknown Artist". Hey, I just push play all and keep it on shuffle.
So Son #2 is in the front seat. The kid in the front seat gets DJ rights. He is flipping through an old Sony sampler and comes across The Shaman's "Ebeneezer Goode". I am chuckling as the faces of my children turn to me as if to say "Really, Dad?" as the 4 minute intro drums on. "Are there any lyrics?" asks son #2. "Yes, wait til you here them," I say "they're hysterical." And then the observation that won the day: Son #1 says "Sounds like the music they play at
Zap Zone." LMAO. I will never hear it without thinking of Lazer Tag again...
